The monsoon season is upon us and I couldn’t be happier. The Arizona monsoon storms are a real treat of the desert and pure, cleansing magic for this sweet soul of mine. Rain has always energized and refreshed me and there is nothing like the howling wind, spectacular lightening and long, dark, drenching downpour of the monsoon season to enliven this desert heart and home.
The word monsoon comes from the Arabic word “mausim” which means season and our local monsoon season is essentially a shift in winds and a spectacular joining of moist air and rising heat from the desert. This season kicked off with a bang and included not only 3 afternoon downpours but 2 all night thunderous events. Calliope even spent one night back in our room after the storm song woke her 3 times in one night! For some people it’s the beach or the sunshine but for me, my heart belongs in the rain and in the mountains. I am in love. We’ll be dancing, drumming, swaying and playing our way through the summer storms! With love from Tucson.
